All fees are in accordance with the STGA guiding rates and fees.

Walking Tours

Full day £370

Driver Guiding Tours

Full day from £750
Rates are based on a standard working day of 8 hours
(Final price will vary depending on extra hours, distance travelled and itinerary)

Overtime Fees

An additional overtime payment of £80 is due for each hour beyond the standard 4 or 8 hour day.

Currency: All quotes and transactions are in £ GBP.

Language: All tours are guided in the English language.

Fees and Expenses

Entrances for clients to paid venues, attractions or ferries etc. are not included in fees.

If you require the guide to pay for tickets to visitor attractions, ferries etc., then a 15% booking fee will be chargeable.

Extended Tours (tours of more than one day)

These are subject to an additional allowance of £160 payment to cover overnight accommodation and evening meal

Ferries:

The use of any ferries would incur an additional cost and would be required to cover both the driver and the vehicle. Some ferry journeys can only be purchased on arrival at the departure point.

Airport Pick-Up / Drop-Off Fees

As part of a tour it is possible to start and / or finish at an airport, however this may incur additional charges to cover the car parking fees charged by that particular airport.

Guide Fees may be paid by the following method:

Bank Transfer – no additional charges for bank transfers

Zettle / Paypal – payments by Zettle/Paypal incur a 5% surcharge

Confirmation of Services

A 25% non-refundable deposit confirms the booking.

The balance is due 28 days before the first booked touring day.

Cancellation Policy

If a confirmed booking is cancelled then the following charges will apply, plus any unrecoverable expenditure e.g. guides pre-booked hotels and tickets. All other recoverable costs will be re-imbursed to the client.

  • At any time: loss of deposit
  • Two Weeks Notice or less: 50% of the total fee
  • One Week’s Notice or less: 75% of the total fee
  • 48 Hours or less: 100% of the total fee

Cancellation Terms

In exceptional circumstances the Kilted Guide reserves the right to cancel tours or services. Clients will be promptly informed and offered a full refund or an alternative arrangement.

Covid Cancellations

If you are required to cancel the tour due to travel restrictions imposed by either the Scottish Government, British Government or the clients government then a full reimbursement will be made (minus any unrecoverable costs – see above).

 

 

Guide / Driver-Guide Insurance

The guide is covered by personal and public liability insurance which is provided throughmembership of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association.

The vehicle and driver is also covered by ‘Hire and Reward’ insurance which is legally required for any guide who drives visitors for financial gain.

We strongly recommend that clients arrange for themselves suitable travel, medical, and cancellation insurance.

The guide is not responsible for cancellations due to unscheduled closures by third party suppliers or events beyond their control e.g. ferry/cruise ship cancellations, road closures, or for providing alternative accommodation as a consequence of a ferry/cruise ship cancellation or road closure.

If necessary, the guide will make all possible steps to assist a client with finding an alternative.

The guide is not responsible for any loss, accident, injury or damage to clients or their personal effects.

 

 

Children

Travel in Scotland:

Seat Belts and Child Seats

UK law requires seatbelts to be worn by all occupants of a moving vehicle. Clients are responsible for requesting a child’s car seat in advance of a tour or for providing an appropriate one themselves.

No Smoking

Smoking or vaping is not allowed in the vehicle.
